The location was enchanting. As we were setting up inside the James Blackstone Memorial Library auditorium, I gazed up and around at the grand windows, the dome shaped ceiling decorated with ornate details, and the cozy chairs. "The library was originally built to be a library," said Carly, reading my mind. I was wondering whether the building was initially designed for a wealthy family, with all its majestic spaces and marble floors and stairs. It was a library from the beginning, I repeated to myself. How wonderful!
Carly is the librarian for Youth Services and leads the Bookworms, a book club for 3rd and 4th graders. She welcomed us to read My COMPLICATED Week during one of the Bookworms' meetings. The kids trickled in a few minutes before 4pm and we helped them get settled in. Everyone had a great time getting to know the characters, reading along and sharing their own experiences of writing stories. “The kids had a blast. Thanks so much for coming and sharing your book. I know they really enjoyed being center stage and reading aloud,” Carly told us.
I'm looking forward to our upcoming readings and sharing the adventures of Annabelle and Andrew with the kids. If you would like information about scheduling a reading at your event or school, send me a message and the author and I will contact you with more details.
